Conscious Communication – L2 Kundalini Yoga Retreat, Nepal
Taught by: Tonie Nooyens
Location: Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Pharping, Nepal
Communication influences every aspect of our lives and the impact we have on others. We create our world and our relationships through communication. It is of the upmost importance.
The Conscious Communication Kundalini meditation and yoga retreat, based on the teachings of Yogi Bhajan®, teaches you to communicate from an enhanced awareness. Learn to listen deeply to yourself and others, and to speak effectively and intuitively from your true self.
In one of the most serene and nurturing venues in Nepal and guided by widely appreciated teacher Tonie Nooyens, explore your relationship to yourself, to others, to the environment, and to life, in harmony with the infinite.
What do we mean by communication?
Communication plays a most vital part in life. Mostly our talk is unconscious, but when it is purposeful we have an aim, we want to achieve something. We approach another person and we want to impress, we want to control, we want to be acknowledged.
Yet we make it complicated. We mess ourselves up. We are caught up in our own entanglements and we suffer because of our own entanglement. We can’t listen to ourselves, we can’t talk to ourselves and we can’t be ourselves.
Yogi Bhajan defined communication as a practice that creates a “common notion” with another person or object of attention.
When we learn deeply and we clear our inner capacity to perceive; when we stay open to listening and correction; when we apply the art of conscious communication, we become simply who we are.
Conscious communication is critical for the effectiveness and satisfaction in every relationship. A conscious person talks with absolute dignity and absolute faith.
Real communication is when after uttering, saying, or communicating, you stand fully 100% by whatever you said. When you don’t stick with what you say, you have no value, and your decoration and your jewelry and your sex and your person have no value. Real communication is the faculty of a human that whatever you say, you stick with it.
~ Yogi Bhajan

The experience of this Kundalini Yoga retreat
During our retreat we will undertake a meditative journey, adapted to both newer and more advanced practitioners. We will be supported by Tonie’s deeply experienced guidance and Dharma teachings from the Khenpo (the abbot of the monastery), and are invited to join the monks during their morning prayers.
This will be complemented with asana and breathing practice, mantra and the powerful resonance of gong sound-current. Together in community we’ll follow a yogic lifestyle, with delicious vegetarian foods, sharing in basic tasks and time for relaxation and walking in the beautiful nature of the surroundings.
I’ve gained too much to put into words. I feel strengthened, more confident with the renewed awareness of how I can shape my world, life, and destiny with a mental shift. I almost don’t recognise the strength I see in myself at the end of this week. It seems new but I understand it was a potential I just didn’t realise I had.

The venue for our meditation course in Nepal
For Tibetan Buddhists, the hills of Pharping where we immerse for our retreat is considered as sacred as Bodhgaya in India, as it is where the second buddha Guru Padmasambhava (“Guru Rinpoche”) attained the state of enlightenment, before going on to establish Buddhism in Tibet.
The monastery, which is our home during the retreat, makes important contributions to the preservation and sharing of the Buddhist teachings, and our stay there helps to fund education for the many young monks from remote areas of Nepal. In return, we are blessed with the opportunity to practice in the temple itself, in a beautiful room above the main hall where the glass walls look out across the valley and mountains.
The lovely guest house often surprises our guests for its wonderful spacious and light rooms, comfortable beds for deep and refreshing sleeps, all with modern attached bathrooms, and built in Tibetan style. It is the perfect place to relax, restore and revive.
The cost of the course is US$ 1,750 per person (all inclusive from when we meet you in Kathmandu until we drop you back at the end. It includes accommodation (8 nights on twin share basis), all your delicious and nourishing meals, transport between Kathmandu and the monastery, all teaching and course materials with manual and thumb drive).
Alumni of Tonie’s Level 2 courses and alumni of any Mahalaya event are entitled to a discount. Please let us know if you are eligible and we will send you the rates.
Private rooms are available at a supplement of $280. Please let us know if you would like a private room.
On offering you a place, we will send you the payment information. We will send you a retreat welcome pack with all you need to know to prepare for your visit on receipt of your $250 deposit.
